Accessing KG Tower from PRO/II

  1. Double click on the column > go to print option > tick on KG Tower / FRI Data in XML File
  2. Run and converge the model then generate the text Output Report
  3. On the Menu bar go to Output and select Export to KG Tower
  4. When the PRO/II to KG-Tower Converter Window opens > Select a maximum of 5 stages for which further calculations using KG-Tower is required > Select the directory where the Input file is to be saved > Write the name of the file > Run KG Tower Software
  5. If KG-Tower software is not installed on the computer, it can be downloaded from the Koch-Glitsch Website

Line Sizing in INPLANT

Line Sizing in INPLANT

This option can be accessed by selecting Sizing on the Link Device Data window. Line sizing can be run on a single link within a network simulation. The selected link must be attached to a source link.
There are three mutually exclusive sizing criteria available in INPLANT
  • Link pressure drop criteria – specified flow rate, inlet and outlet pressure
  • Erosional Velocity – Specified flow rate, inlet or outlet pressure
  • User specified maximum velocity curve – Specified flow rate, inlet or outlet pressure
To invoke line sizing, select the following options in Run Simulation and View Results dialog box:

Conditional Formatting

This feature was introduced in PRO/II version 9.0
Highlight all of the streams that meet a specified critieria. For example,
  • Display all the streams with T > 200F
  • And then display all streams with P < 100 psia

Step 1: Go to Tools > Rules Manager


Step 2: Create Rule Sets (left side of the window) by clicking on the New button.

Step 2a: Define the condition by clicking on the New button (right side of the window) followed by clicking on the space below “Condition”. Color of the stream can be formatted by clicking on the space below Format.
Step 3: Go to Tools > Active Rule Set > (Choose your Rule Set)
Step 4: Go to Tools > Update Stream Formatting
Upon completion of the previous steps, the PFD would look something like the figure below:

Announcing the release of PIPEPHASE 9.5.1


We are pleased to announce the release of PIPEPHASE 9.5.1.

PIPEPHASE provides rigorous modeling of steady-state multiphase flow in oil and gas networks and pipeline systems. PIPEPHASE 9.5 provided the modeling capabilities needed to accurately manage and model oil and gas reservoirs by developing an interface with popular reservoir simulators and enhancing PIPEPHASE’s subsurface well modeling functionality. PIPEPHASE 9.5.1 is a maintenance release that contains defect fixes required to increase the accuracy of PIPEPHASE.

Announcing the release of FSIM Plus 4.7.1


We are pleased to announce the release of FSIM Plus 4.7.1.

FSIM Plus is a tool used to model the Foxboro I/A Series control processor. FSIM Plus provides a “Virtual Simulation” of the Foxboro I/A Series control processor that is a valuable piece of an Operator Training System (OTS) especially when combined with modeling capability from DYNSIM.

FSIM Plus supports I/A Series block algorithms, including those that execute in I/A Series control processors (CPs), Device Integrators, and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Integrators. FSIM Plus fully incorporates I/A Series ladder logic, and motor drive actuators (MDACT), which all normally execute in the fieldbus modules (FBMs). FSIM Plus also accepts I/A Series control configuration downloads or Foxboro Control Software/IEE Engineering Tools. FSIM Plus simulates I/A Series controls for control system checkout, and for OTS and version 4.7.1 is now compatible with DYNSIM 5.0, FoxView 10.2.4 and I/A Series 8.7 as well as earlier I/A series versions through the I/A Series migration tools.

1. Highlight the stream which needs to be defined and go to Define Stream Data Link:




2. Browse for the file and then for the stream from which data is to be copied > Check Update Now > Click OK

Customizing your Icon palette in PRO/II


Note: This feature is available for PRO/II version 9.0 onwards

1.Go to Option and select Customize Icon Palette  



2. Select the Tab to be edited from the Tab Manager and click Edit



3. A Unit-op can be inserted, deleted or it position within the Tab can be changed



4. You can also create your own tab by click New on the Tab Manager and specify a name to the New Tab  and insert the required Unit-ops.



5. The newly formed Tab would then get available on the Icon Palette
