From "Hydrocarbon Processing": "China’s crude processing rises to record as two new refineries start"

"Processing in the world’s second-largest oil consumer rose 5.3% from a year earlier to 40.17 million metric tons, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics in Beijing. That’s equivalent to 10.52 million bpd, exceeding the previous high of 10.2 million bpd in December 2012.

China refined a record amount of crude last month as new plants owned by PetroChina and Sinochem Group began operations."

PIPEPHASE - PRO/II Integration, SimSci

Do you use both PRO/II and PIPEPHASE? Did you know that you can connect a PIPEPHASE piping model directly into your PRO/II simulation model? It’s extremely easy to set up.
In your PRO/II model, simply place a PIPEPHASE unit-op on the flowsheet and connect the inlet and outlet streams. Open the PIPEPHASE unit-op and fill in the required data.
PIPEPHASE unit in PRO/II for integration, SimSci

1. Choose the PIPEPHASE version or accept the default.  . 
2Choose an existing PIPEPHASE simulation to initialize the unit-op. It must be a preconfigured, converged PIPEPHASE model.
3. Map PRO/II components with those in the PIPEPHASE model by Name or Index. Selected components in PRO/II and PIPEPHASE must be identical.
4. Connect the appropriate PRO/II stream with a source and sink in PIPEPHASE.
5. Link a data specification between the two programs; i.e., a Total liquid volume rate in PIPEPHASE.


Instructions for integrating PRO/II with PIPEPHASE


That’s it. Simple and easy. Just make sure that PIPEPHASE is not running while setting up the PIPEPHASE unit-op in PRO/II or running the PRO/II simulation.

Believe it or not, the hydrocarbon processing industries (HPI), which includes petrochemicals, petroleum refining and gas processing, continues to be affected by the financial crisis of 2008. But an upturn may be in the offing.
The impact of the crisis manifested itself in the slow pace of recovery, the decline in oil demand over two years and modest growth for other energy sources. According to the ‘Hydrocarbon Processing’ magazine in its market data for 2014, these factors reduced the number of active projects worldwide, from 5,473 in 2009 to 3,435 in 2013, reflecting a more cautious approach throughout the HPI."
